John Giammarella is a leading expert in the fields of construction and project management. Over a 30 year career he has had hands-on experience in every facet of the business, and his ability to navigate all areas of the construction process has made him an important asset to the Urban Strategic Investment team. Specifically, John was instrumental in controlling costs and managing the overall construction of the DC USA project – constantly monitoring the progress of the contractors on site and insuring quality control and cost efficiencies throughout the development. Before becoming President of Gotham Construction in 2000, John was a Senior Vice President at Morse Diesel, an internationally recognized construction company.
In addition to his successes in the development of retail projects with the Urban Strategic Investment team, John has successfully managed the construction of all building types, including residential, commercial, healthcare, hotel, and educational projects. He is skilled in managing projects under both Construction Management and Guaranteed Maximum Price contract scenarios. His multiple-task management approach enables him to oversee a number of projects at various stages of development and construction.
Mr. Picket, a graduate of Cornell University, is actively involved in various real estate trade organizations. He is a member of the Board of Governors and Executive Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York, is a former director of the National Housing Conference, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Building Contractors Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc.
